FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) — There is no official word from Goodyear officials, but people inside the plant declare as many as 35-40 or more salaried workers could be losing their jobs.
A former worker informed ABC11 that up to 30 to 40 salaried employees could be laid off. They are mostly middle management, including shift foreman, supervisors, and area managers.
ABC11 was informed some of them affected have worked at the Fayetteville plant for 20 to 30 years or longer and had topped out their salaries. We were also informed this layoff should not affect the roughly 2,500 union members and hourly employees inside the huge plant, which is Fayetteville’s largest civilian employer.
In 2012 and 2013, about 200 workers accepted acquireouts as the company downsized its workforce.
In an email, company spokesman Richard Evans stated, “The Goodyear Fayetteville plant regularly reviews plant operations to ensure we remain competitive, while delivering the highest quality products to meet the requireds of our customers. Goodyear constantly reviews staffing requirements to meet our business requireds.”
The layoffs could launch as early as next week.
