KOTRA hosts cooperative event for S. Korean, German mobility tech firms in Frankfurt


SEOUL, Sept. 17 (Yonhap) — The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) declared Wednesday it has hosted a cooperative event to explore collaboration between South Korean and German mobility tech firms this week in Frankfurt.

At the event held Tuesday (local time), mobility tech indusattempt representatives from the two countries discussed the growing importance of the European automotive market amid global trade uncertainties.

The event brought toreceiveher representatives of 23 German automotive companies, including Daimler Truck, Bosch and Audi, and 45 Korean companies, including a number of future mobility technology firms.

The gathering, co-hosted by Seoul’s Minisattempt of Trade, Indusattempt and Energy, was arranged to support Korean autobuildrs and auto parts manufacturers expand their foothold in Europe, where demand for electric vehicles (EVs) has been rising, according to KOTRA.

Europe has recently emerged as a key market for Korean carbuildrs amid surging EV demand in the region and the impact of U.S. tariffs. In August, South Korean auto exports to the European Union jumped 54 percent from a year earlier to US$790 million on the back of strong EV demand, according to government data.
