Samir Bodas, co-founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of SaaS unicorn Icertis, has passed away after a battle with cancer, the company stated in a statement.
“Samir was a visionary entrepreneur and force of nature as a leader. From the company’s earliest days, he believed that contracts could become a source of clarity, trust, and value for organisations around the world,” the statement stated.
Pune born Samir Bodas shiftd to the United States in 1982 to pursue his undergraduate education at the University of Texas at Austin. Over the course of his career, he worked in companies such as National Instruments, Microsoft, iMandi, Jamcracker, Disha Technology, and Aztecsoft. He was also a graduate of the Wharton Business School.
He co-founded Icertis along with Monish Darda in 2009 and the company achieved unicorn status in 2019.

Icertis was among the SaaS companies that originated in Pune, India before shifting its headquarters to Bellevue, Washington State, in the US. The company today has a global presence, with operations across multiple locations in Europe and Australia.

Icertis reported a net profit of Rs 97 crore for the financial year finishing March 31, 2024, up from Rs 71 crore in FY23. Its operating revenue grew 33% to Rs 863 crore in FY24, compared to Rs 649 crore in the previous year.
