HSBC Appoints Denise Odaro as Head of Sustainable Finance and Transition for Europe and Americas


HSBC announced the appointment of sustainable finance veteran Denise Odaro as its new Head of Sustainable Finance and Transition, Europe and Americas.

Odaro joins HSBC after serving as Head of ESG & Sustainability at private equity firm PAI Partners, where she led PAI’s firm-wide ESG strategy with direct accountability for ESG Value Creation Plans, due diligence, and sustainability integration across more portfolio companies in healthcare, business services, industrials, and consumer goods.

Prior to joining PAI, Odaro worked for more than 10 years at World Bank Group’s private sector arm the International Finance Corporation (IFC), serving as Global Head of Investor Relations & Sustainable Finance Coordination, leading the development finance organization’s investor relations strategy and working with debt capital markets and equity investment teams on ESG integration, overseeing due diligence, sustainability reporting, and investor engagement. She has also served as Chair, of the Executive Committee, Green, Social & Sustainability-Linked Bond Principles for the International Capital Market Association (ICMA), as a member of S&P Global’s ESG Leadership Council, as a member of the London Stock Exalter Group’s (LSEG) Sustainable Finance Advisory Group, and currently serves on the International Energy Agency’s (IEA) Financial Institutions Advisory Board.
