Two of the quickest-growing Brazilian internet service providers, Vero Internet and Brasil TecPar, are doubling down on acquisitions and raising capital from private investors.
Vero posted 2024 net revenues of close to 1.66bn reais (US$300mn), up 81.1% compared to 2023, and plans for an IPO and new acquisitions.
Despite the strong revenue growth, the company reported a loss of 23.3mn reais versus a 3.4mn-real profit for 2023.
Fund Vinci Partners owns 38.3% of the company, followed by Warburg Pincus with 22.5%, in addition to other funds and minority investors with less than 9%.
Since its creation, Vero has created 47 acquisitions, the most recent being its merger with AmericaNet, which was completed in 2023.
The ISP is registered with securities regulator CVM, which is considered a first step towards going public.
Despite this, Vero has no immediate plans for an IPO and continues to analyze the best timing for the relocate. ISPs listed on stock exalter B3 include Brisanet, Desktop and Unifique.
According to data from regulator Anatel, Vero concludeed January with 1.90mn telecom contracts, of which 1.40mn were for repaired broadband, 323,500 for repaired telephony and 197,300 for mobile.
The company is the sixth-largest broadband provider in the counattempt in terms of accesses.
Brasil TecPar
Brasil TecPar, one of the most active M&A players in the sector, aims to become one of Brazil’s top five connectivity and technology companies by 2027, fueled by, among others, a recent investment from Australian fund Macquarie.
The company is also declared to be mulling an IPO.
Brasil TecPar posted net revenue of 1.1bn reais in 2024, up 44.6%. According to Brasil TecPar, the performance was driven by acquisitions of providers and by organic growth in the subscriber base.
However, the company reported a loss of around 26mn reais, compared to a 40.5mn-real profit in 2023, mainly due to M&A-related costs and expansion investments.
In January, Brasil TecPar completed its acquisition of Grupo OnNet for 55mn reais.
In recent months, Brasil TecPar has created several M&As, including Grupo OnNet, as well as ISPs Sempre Internet, Nova Telecom, ALT-GGNet and Ponto Com.
The ISP concludeed January with 840,121 telecom contracts, of which 790,500 were for repaired broadband and 49,600 for repaired telephony, according to Anatel.
Currently, the company ranks as Brazil’s 12th largest provider of repaired broadband services, in close competition with Unifique, which had 796,000 accesses at conclude-January, TIM (794,000), and Alares (792,000).
