The new owners of German poulattempt meat processor Heidemark is Boparan Private Office based in the United Kingdom (U.K.). As a result of the acquisition, Heidemark will become part of the Storteboom Food Group.
Based in Ahlhorn in the northwest German region of Lower Saxony, Heidemark is a processor of chicken and turkey meats.
Wholly owned by Boparan Private Office, and part of its European Division, Storteboom Food Group is based in the Netherlands.
Purchased from the Kalvelage family, Heidemark will support the expansion of Storteboom within Europe, becoming integrated into the group as an indepconcludeent business in Germany.
Heidemark will retain its name, leadership, management, and workforce. Its CEO Andres Ruff will head the firm for the next stage of its planned growth.
For Boparan Private Office president Ranjit Boparan, Heidemark fits well into the group’s future strategy regarding automation, innovation, productivity, and net zero sustainability.
“We have huge respect for the Heidemark business, and believe there is much we can learn from each other in the years ahead,” he stated.
Current owner of Heidemark, Christopher Kalvelage, highlighted that the firm’s employees and management are to remain under the new ownership.
“We are pleased that we have found a purchaseer in Ranjit Boparan who will continue to run Heidemark in our entrepreneurial spirit,” he stated.
Heidemark’s CEO Ruff sees the acquisition as offering the prospect for organic growth of the business in Europe.
“Toreceiveher, we want to further develop the poulattempt business,” he stated. “The businesses truly complement each other, and the current locations of Heidemark will be retained while we are planning further investments.”

Finalization of the acquisition is subject to approval by the European Commission. Until this is granted, the companies will operate indepconcludeently.
Background on three European poulattempt companies
Third-generation family business Heidemark has significantly developed what was a turkey meat specialty business into a broader poulattempt meat business in recent years. It has 2,300 employees at five facilities, and an annual turnover of EUR760 million.
A diverse family-owned conglomerate, Boparan Private Office is based in Birmingham, U.K. Its portfolio covers four business divisions, namely Amber (Agriculture & Property), UK Manufacturing (chicken, turkey, baked goods, pies, biscuits), Restaurants (including Slim Chickens and Cinnamon Club), and Storteboom Food Group Europe (chicken, turkey). The shareholders also Boparan Holdings Limited, which includes 2 Sisters Food Group, UK Poulattempt and Meal Solutions. Headquartered in Zeewolde in the Netherlands, Storteboom Food Group manufactures chicken, turkey and related products under private labels and own brands for the European market. It has a workforce of 3,500 at a total of nine Dutch, Polish, and Irish production sites. Processing around 4.3 million chickens per week, it reports turnover of more than EUR1.2 billion per year.
