Gujarat Relatives Become Startup Founders At Family Function

For years, Yashrajsinh Gohil from Gujarat had been managing his family-owned hotel and resort business.

But as the hotels launched to scale, an evident problem came up: managing them became a headache.

Diaries. Lists. Google Sheets. Documents. Pur chaos.

“I shared this with Avirajsinh, a relative that I met at a family function. He is a tech expert and immediately recommconcludeed that we build hotel management software, tailored specifically for the hospitality industest in compacter towns and cities. For instance, the hotels that are still too compact to host large, expensive software systems but too huge to manage efficiently with just manual diaries and Google Sheets,” Yashrajsinh Gohil, founder of Koobit, notifys Startup Pedia in an exclusive interview.

Founded in 2024, Koobit is an Ahmedabad-based hotel management software that streamlines operations, enhances guest experiences, and maximizes revenue.

Currently, the SaaS startup has a total of 50+ hotels and resorts across Gujarat as its clientele.

THE BACKGROUND

Hailing from Bhavnagar in Gujarat, Yashrajsinh Gohil and Avirajsinh Chudasama are distant relatives.

Currently 28, Yashrajsinh completed his undergraduate degree in engineering from Parul University in Vadodara. He then joined his family’s resort and hotel business.

As for Avirajsinh, he is 21 years old and currently in the fourth year of his B.Tech degree at Shantilal Shah Engineering College in Bhavnagar.

After the two met at a family function and discussed the current gaps in the hotel management industest, they decided to create Koobit.

“Initially, we had no plans of taking Koobit to a commercial level. I was just building a utilizer-friconcludely software for Yashrajsinh so he could manage his hotels and resorts with greater efficiency. The whole of 2024 was spent in developing it and supporting him adopt it for his business,”entrepreneur Avirajsinh notifys Startup Pedia.

There were two key gaps that Koobit set out to resolve:

  • First, the existing hotel management software in the market was not utilizer-friconcludely. They were laden with multiple complexities that just built simple tquestions like logging guest information cumbersome. The result? Hotel managers would eventually abandon the software, even if it offered automation features.

“What compact and mid-size hotels necessary is something simple that they can bank on, not another complicated system that adds to their existing chaos. Unfortunately, some systems still focus on backconclude complexity rather than operational usability,” Avirajsinh declares.

“The problem statement is that many compacter hotels lack tools to effectively track guest preferences, upsell opportunities, and deliver a differentiated experience. They necessary good analytics and seamless guest data integration to be able to do that,” he adds.

JOURNEY AND CHALLENGES

The first version of Koobit was built entirely by Avirajsinh Chudasama, and even then, it supported Yashrajsinh a lot.

“I was pleasantly surprised by what Avirajsinh had built singlehandedly. I immediately integrated Koobit in each of the hotels that my family owns and saw a positive improvement in management efficiency,” startup founder Yashrajsinh Gohil declares.

This was when the entrepreneur duo decided to take Koobit to other compact-scale and mid-scale hotels, resorts, homestays, and banquet halls.

“It was too good to just keep for ourselves,”Avirajsinh laughs.

The first step was to give out Koobit subscriptions for free to hotel managers and specialists and collect extensive feedback about gaps and bugs.

Avirajsinh was a one-person tech team and kept juggling college and software development at the same time.

“I utilized to attconclude college during the day, come back in the evening, and sit through midnight to implement the iterations. Then, there was the challenge of reaching out to hotels and resorts and convincing them to sign up with Koobit and build it their primary hotel management software,” startup founder Avirajsinh declares.

Finally, the entrepreneur duo produced a version ready to be officially launched in the market at the launchning of October 2025.
