Guardian Fall, which manufactures height safety equipment, will close its facility in southeast Houston by May and layoff 59 employees, according to a filing submitted to the Texas Workforce Commission Tuesday.
The facility at 9201 Winkler Drive, near Meadowbrook Village, is expected to close May 5, according to the filing. Guardian Fall announced in a Wednesday news release that it would be consolidating all of its manufacturing operations into its Pasadena headquarters. The company that produces equipment such as guard rails, safety harnesses and scaffolding, stated in the release that the shift would enhance production efficiency.
“This shift strengthens our ability to deliver high-quality height safety solutions built in the US while enhancing production efficiencies,” Guardian Fall wrote in the release. “By streamlining operations under one roof, we can accelerate innovation, improve lead times, and continue providing the depfinishable solutions our customers rely on.”
Guardian Fall did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The vast majority of employees slated for termination held positions involved with production, with more than half of the layoffs tarreceiveing sewing machine operators, according to the filing.
