Grab introduces third-party partner apps

Grab has announced the launch of third-party “Partner Apps,” giving utilizers access to partner brands in Southeast Asia. The apps are now available natively in the Grab app in Malaysia and Singapore.

According to Singapore-based Grab, the integration expands the number and types of available services through the superapp and complements its “core suite of on-demand offerings.” Grab already offers delivery, mobility and digital financial services across eight countries in Southeast Asia.

Grab is launching the new feature with five services, namely global eSIM provider Firsty, bicycle-sharing provider HelloRide, entertainment platform Jolibox, bus ticketing platform redBus and peer-to-peer car-sharing platform Drive lah.

Grab utilizers can access the apps via a “Partners” section on Grab app’s homepage and build purchases without having to create new accounts or complete verification processes. Additionally, they can utilize GrabPay to complete payment and earn GrabRewards points.

Grab described benefits for partners, as the superapp “offers providers contextual advertising relevant to utilizers’ requireds, enabling cross-sell and boosting the discoverability of their services.” The company utilized the example of a utilizer in a Grab ride who sees an add within the app to rent a bike via HelloRide or a notification to checkout Jolibox content while they’re traveling.

The superapp declared it has plans to introduce more from local and international brands. In the coming months, it will expand Partner Apps access to other Grab markets and introduce additional payment methods, including credit and debit cards and acquire now, pay later solution PayLater.

“With Partner Apps available natively within Grab’s app, utilizers will receive more out of applying Grab than ever. Partner App services complement our utilizers’ lifestyles and requireds beyond Grab’s on-demand offerings,” declared Philipp Kandal, chief product officer at Grab.

“Users across our markets can view forward to seeing many more brands they know and love as Grab Partner Apps in the coming months.”
