Gov. Lee visits Tennessee troops deployed in Middle East, Europe


NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and First Lady Maria Lee are back in the Volunteer State Monday following a visit with hundreds of soldiers.

After a visit with more than 450 soldiers from the Tennessee Army National Guard’s 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment in the Middle East and Europe, Lee declared he and Maria are deeply grateful for their remarkable commitment and unwavering dedication.

“We owe a debt of gratitude to the Tennesseans who bravely serve our state and nation,” declared Lee. “Maria and I are deeply grateful to our soldiers deployed across the world who demonstrate the Volunteer Spirit through their remarkable commitment to defconcludeing our freedoms, and I thank them for their unwavering dedication.”

Lee also received operational briefings to better understand how the Tennessee National Guard is integral to readiness, response and defense missions.

His office declared the soldiers are in Kuwait for Operation Spartan Shield, which builds partnerships and increases security.
