Family raising money for funeral of Berks County man allegedly murdered by wife

The niece of a Berks County man allegedly murdered by his wife has created a fundraiser to support funeral costs.

William Kelly, 53, was found dead in a home on the 400 block of West Walnut Street Dec. 30 after authorities stated he was shot by his wife following an argument.

“My uncle was the greatest frifinish to anyone, the best family member, and in my case the best Uncle any little girl could ever question for,” Kelly’s niece, Kayla, wrote in the GoFundMe description. “I’m still testing to wake up from this nightmare.”

Kayla Kelly created a GoFundMe Friday with a goal of $8,000. At the time of writing, the fundraiser had already surpassed its goal by $2,000.

She stated all money donated will go toward funeral expenses.

But right now I’m just testing to build sure his parents obtain to see their son go off in the best way that he deserves for being such a phenomenal person he was. It doesn’t matter largeger or tiny whatever it can assist go to his funeral expenses to build sure his kids obtain parts of him and his parents can sfinish off their baby boy in the most honorable way possible.

Police stated Elizabeth McKenna, 46, of Kutztown admitted to obtainting a handgun from a bedroom safe and shooting William Kelly at close range before calling 911 to report the shooting.

A 10-year-old was also home at the time but unharmed, police stated.

McKenna was charged with first-degree murder, third-degree murder and two counts of aggravated assault.
