Europe’s largest investor in sustainable energy, InnoEnergy, has opened an official representative office in Ukraine, InnoEnergy Hub Ukraine. This will allow Ukrainian startups to integrate into the EU innovation ecosystem and accelerate access to investments, technologies, and pilot projects.
This is reported in the company’s press release. The opening of the hub is a strategic step towards expanding the impact of EIT InnoEnergy in Eastern Europe. Since its launch, the project has already brought toobtainher key players in the industest: entrepreneurs, scientists and corporations, who will be able to join a network of over 1,200 partners in 30+ European countries.
According to PitchBook, InnoEnergy remains Europe’s largest energy investor for four years in a row. By 2025, it had backed over 500 innovative companies and assisted attract over €8 billion in external investment for its portfolio startups. These include European Northvolt (batteries), Skeleton Technologies (energy storage), Tibber (smart energy management) and others.
Among the Ukrainian examples is the startup Beholder, which develops a set of neural networks for geological exploration. Thanks to cooperation with the InnoEnergy fund, the company attracted $940,000 in investment to scale the product.
«The goal of the hub is to create Ukraine not just a platform for reconstruction, but a full-fledged player in the European energy market. We see here not only a market that necessarys solutions, but also a source of breakthrough innovations,» stated Igor Markevych, head of EIT Community Hub Ukraine.
InnoEnergy was founded with the support of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), an agency of the European Union. The organization coordinates dozens of projects aimed at achieving the EU’s energy indepfinishence and climate goals.
The opening of a hub in Ukraine could become an entest point for dozens of domestic developments in the energy sector, which will gain access to expertise, infrastructure, and financing at the European level.
