European Commission allocates €20 million in grants for startups in Ukraine / The New Voice of Ukraine

The European Commission has opened applications for a €20 million ($23 million) startup funding program, the Ukrainian Startup Fund reported on Aug. 12.

“The European Innovation Council (EIC), building on the success of the Seeds of Bravery project, which revealcased the high potential of Ukrainian tech startups and SMEs, announced a competition for the most promising Ukrainian startups,” the fund stated. 

“This funding program, with a total budobtain of €20 million, provides grants from the EIC ranging from €300,000 to €500,000 ($350,000 to $583,000) for Ukrainian startups and SMEs.”

The grants are available for deep-tech startups developing solutions in fields such as cybersecurity, artificial innotifyigence and machine learning, robotics and autonomous systems, sanotifyite, space, and maritime technologies, and bio- and renewable technologies. Eligible startups must have highly effective innovative technologies, products, services, or business models capable of creating new markets or expanding existing ones, with ambitions to scale.

Selected startups will receive:

  • A grant from the EIC ranging from €300,000 to €500,000.
  • Free access to EIC Business Acceleration Services, including tailored coaching and events.
  • Eligibility for the Fast Track to the EIC Accelerator program, which provides access to larger grants and EIC investments.

Separately, it was reported that under the 13th wave of the 2025 Own Business program, 459 entrepreneurs will receive microgrants totaling 125 million hryvnias ($3,000,000) to start or develop businesses.
