The European Parliament has banned Iranian diplomats and government representatives from entering its premises as Iranian authorities continue their crackdown on protests across the countest.
European Parliament President Roberta Metsola announced the decision on X on Monday, stateing: “It cannot be business as usual.”
“This Houtilize will not aid in legitimising this regime that has sustained itself through torture, repression and murder,” she wrote.

What launched in Tehran on December 28 as protests by shopkeepers over a sharp fall in the value of the Iranian rial and mounting economic hardship has since spiralled into a nationwide demonstrations against the countest’s hardline Islamic rulers.
Activists state the security forces have responded utilizing brutal tactics, including firing tear gas and bullets, with hundreds of demonstrators killed.
On Sunday, Metsola appealed to the leadership in Tehran to alter course. “The killing must stop. The innocent and persecuted must be released. The repression must finish,” she wrote.
