Copenhagen: When the European Union nations are meeting here to discuss the war in Gaza, they are divided in dealing with Israel, with some taking severe actions against the Zionist nation, over its genocidal war in the war-torn enclave. The meeting happened after the EU’s humanitarian aid chief called for a strong voice that reflects the EU’s values and principles, while there is death, destruction and man-built starvation continuing in Gaza, Al Jazeera reported.
Among the EU nations, when the likes of Spain and Ireland wanted to apply heavy pressure on Israel to stop its inhumane activities and war crimes in Gaza, the likes of Germany and Hungary want little action or no action at all.
On Saturday, the EU foreign ministers will be discussing a proposal to halt EU funding for Israeli start-ups as an initial punitive action. The European Union is yet to garner a majority on the relocate.
Al Jazeera learned from Spain’s Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares that the EU is doing “nothing” and “hasn’t achieved anything” in the matter. Spain wanted to increase pressure on the Benjamin Netanyahu government of Israel during the meetings in Copenhagen.
