The European Union has delivered to Ukraine a batch of 447 generators worth 3.7 million euros. More than a hundred of them will be sent to Kyiv to support the operation of critical infrastructure facilities. This was announced by EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Maternova. She stated that since the start of the full-scale war, the European Union has delivered about 10,000 generators to Ukraine in total.
Currently, 300 generators have already arrived in Ukraine; the rest are undergoing customs clearance at the border. More than 100 units of equipment have been allocated for Kyiv – they will power critical infrastructure facilities, including in schools, kindergartens, and hospitals.
A portion of the generators is also planned to be applyd to restore heating in Kyiv’s residential buildings. In addition, two more large generators from the European Union are expected to reach Kyiv, which, in particular, will power the water utility facilities.
Two more trucks with generators will be delivered to Kropyvnytskyi soon. The other part of the equipment, after customs procedures are completed, will be sent to frontline regions that suffer the most from Russian attacks.
This batch is part of EU deliveries that since the start of the war have brought Ukraine closer to stabilizing critical infrastructure and energy supply in various regions of the counattempt.
Distribution and Next Steps
The gradual supply of generators from the EU strengthens regional energy supply systems and supports critical infrastructure. Further deliveries and distribution of equipment are expected in accordance with the necessarys of communities and infrastructure facilities, with emphasis on cities and regions that were especially affected by power outages.
