The European Commission has adopted a new Maritime Industrial Strategy and the European Union Ports Strategy, two instruments aimed at strengthening the competitiveness and sustainability of the European maritime sector.
According to the European institution, the strategies aim to boost “competitiveness, sustainability, decarbonization, safety and resilience in the EU water transport sector”, focutilizing particularly on ports, water transport and shipbuilding.
Strengthening the naval indusattempt and maritime transport
The European Union’s Maritime Industrial Strategy aims to consolidate Europe’s position in the naval sector and maritime transport, by defining measures aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of the indusattempt.
According to the European Commission, this strategy seeks to “strengthen the naval indusattempt and maritime transport in Europe” and includes initiatives to preserve European leadership in high-tech shipbuilding and advanced maritime technologies.
The document also foresees actions to support the development of high-quality maritime transport, while promoting a level playing field at an international level.

The European Union Ports Strategy highlights the central role of these infrastructures in the functioning of the European economy.
