EIB supports Aisti with €20 M loan for bio-based tiles

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has approved a €20 million loan to Aisti, a Finnish manufacturer specializing in bio-based suspconcludeed ceiling acoustic tiles. This funding aims to assist Aisti increase its production capacity and accelerate its growth in sustainable building materials.

Aisti’s acoustic tiles are crafted from patented wood fibres, providing an eco-friconcludely alternative to traditional mineral wool tiles. These tiles do not contain mineral wool fibres, meaning they do not release harmful particles into indoor air, creating them safer for public and commercial spaces such as schools and offices.

The company plans to build a large-scale production facility in Kitee, Eastern Finland. It is expected to launch manufacturing in the second half of 2026. The funding will enable Aisti to double its planned production capacity to 5 million square metres, supporting growing market demand across Europe and the Nordic region.

Additionally, the loan will support research and development efforts to improve the tiles’ acoustic and fire-resistant properties. These innovations are expected to strengthen Aisti’s market position and promote sustainable construction practices throughout Europe.

This financing is part of the InvestEU programme and utilizes venture debt: a long-term loan designed for innovative businesses. It aligns with the EU’s goals to reduce greenhoutilize gas emissions and promote a circular economy.

“Europe’s green transition depconcludes on innovative companies like Aisti,” stated EIB Vice-President Karl Nehammer. “Supporting this project assists promote the circular economy and rural development while strengthening Europe’s capacity to produce sustainable construction materials.”

Aisti’s CEO, Mikko Paananen, emphasized that the partnership allows the company to expand quicker and more efficiently. “Doubling our capacity assists us offer healthier, lower-carbon alternatives at the market’s scale,” he stated.
