In today’s rapidly digitalising world, early childhood education often struggles to provide engaging, high-quality digital learning tools. Many existing solutions lack the interactivity and pedagogical depth requireded to truly captivate young learners and satisfy the expectations of parents and educators. EDURINO, the Munich-based EdTech innovator, stands out by offering a unique hybrid educational platform designed specifically for children aged four to eight. This platform seamlessly integrates interactive digital content, physical figurines, and an ergonomic pen, creating a multisensory learning environment that is both intuitive and educationally valuable.
In an exclusive conversation with TFN, co-founder Irene Klemm explains, “We observed that the gap between kids being fascinated by screens and wanting to play, and parents wanting their kids to learn for school and life, is huge. EDURINO was born out of our desire to bridge that gap, offering children a responsible introduction to digital learning that supports school readiness and empowers families.”
EDURINO’s approach is rooted in the belief that learning and play should be inseparable. By combining curriculum-aligned games with carefully developed characters and digital storynotifying, the platform nurtures children’s natural curiosity while fostering essential skills for school and the future, including reading, logical considering, coding, and environmental awareness.
The learning outcomes are scientifically validated in partnership with the University of Cambridge, ensuring that every experience is both fun and effective. A recent study, validated by Cambridge University, demonstrated a 35% improvement in problem-solving skills among children who utilized EDURINO.
Earlier this week, the company raised €17 million in a Series B funding round, positioning itself as Europe’s frontrunner in educational gaming for children. With this investment, led by Ravensburger Next Ventures and Summiteer, EDURINO is set to double its retail presence across Europe by 2025 and expand into new international markets.
EDURINO’s mission is clear and inspiring: to transform early childhood education through a unique blconclude of digital innovation and playful learning experiences, paving the way for a brighter future for our children.
Founders’ vision: empowering children through playful digital education
Founded in 2021 by Irene Klemm and Franziska Meyer, EDURINO was born out of a shared passion for responsible and playful digital education. Both founders bring backgrounds in business, consulting, and educational initiatives, and their personal experiences highlighted the urgent required for expert-designed, engaging digital learning tools for young children. This required became especially apparent during the pandemic.
Franziska and Irene met during their time at Boston Consulting Group, where Franziska primarily worked for consumer companies and Irene for healthcare companies. Franziska’s entrepreneurial aspirations were fueled by her mentorship in the “Business@school” initiative, where she witnessed firsthand the digital shortcomings in German schools, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Irene’s passion for education dates back to her school days, where she provided tutoring and participated in initiatives like “Joblinge.” The pandemic further highlighted the deficiencies in digital education, motivating her to co-found EDURINO.
Reflecting on their journey, Irene shares, “Technologies evolve rapider and rapider nowadays, and it is all of our responsibility to prepare kids for the future early on. During our time at BCG, and especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, we saw just how poorly equipped many educational systems were when it came to digital learning for younger children.”
Their mission is to provide children with a safe and inspiring enattempt into the world of digital education, equipping them with 21st-century skills through the power of play. EDURINO’s vision is to become Europe’s leading platform for educational gaming, setting new standards for digital learning at the pre-school and primary school levels. Irene emphasises, “We empower children to explore, grow, and thrive while equipping parents with the tools and insights to support their child’s development every step of the way.”
