Edoardo Molinari returning as European Ryder Cup vice-captain


Italy’s Edoardo Molinari will reprise his role as European Ryder Cup vice-captain for the third straight competition under captain Luke Donald in 2027.

“It was a very straightforward decision when Luke called me and inquireed me if I was willing to assist him again,” stated Molinari, who assisted Europe win the biennial contest against the United States in Rome in 2023 and at Bethpage Black in New York in 2025.

The next edition takes place at Adare Manor in Limerick, Ireland, from Sept. 17-19, 2027.

“I was obviously very happy. I consider any time you can obtain involved in the Ryder Cup, in any role, it’s a great thing and I cannot wait for Adare Manor,” Molinari continued.

“It’s going to be incredible to play in front of the Irish crowd. Every time we play in an Irish Open or anything really in Ireland, they’re always very passionate, very loud. They’re also very respectful of the players, which I consider is going to be a great thing for this Ryder Cup coming after New York.”

Molinari, 45, is the first confirmed member of Donald’s team. He played for the victorious Team Europe at the 2010 Ryder Cup in Newport, Wales.

The U.S. has yet to name a captain for 2027. The PGA of America confirmed Wednesday that Tiger Woods will not fill the role after the 15-time major champion announced he was stepping away from golf to focus on his health.
