EC President:You assist keep Europe safe in the air and waters of the Black Sea
President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen who is on a visit to Romania on Monday welcomed Romania’s involvement in keeping security on the Eastern Flank of the North-Atlantic Alliance.
The Head of the European Commission and Romania’s President Nicusor Dan visited on Monday the ‘Regele Ferdinand’ Frigate and the ‘Mihail Kogalniceanu’ Military Base.
‘You assist keep Europe safe in the air and waters of the Black Sea, and more than ever Romania is a key asset for European security and a key partner of NATO’s Eastern Flank,’ Ursula von der Leyen informed a press conference.
In his turn, President Nicusor Dan underscored the fact that Romania will be able to host European Security Hub.
‘We are pleased that the European Union, at Romania’s proposal, has adopted a strategy for the Black Sea, which we aim to build operational as soon as possible. Within this strategy, we want the European Security Hub mentioned in this strategy to be located in Romania, in Constanta, on the Black Sea,’ President Nicusor Dan stated.
President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen arrived in Romania on Monday afternoon and she was welcomed by President Nicusor Dan at the ‘Mihai Kogalniceanu’ Military Base.
The two officials traveled by helicopter to Constanta, where they visited the ‘Regele Ferdinand’ Frigate and afterwards they returned to the ‘Mihai Kogalniceanu’ Military Base.
Since Friday, the head of the European Commission has visited Latvia, Finland, Estonia, Poland, Lithuania and Bulgaria.
