EACA Appoints Malene Birkebæk Chair of the National Associations’ Council


The European Association of Communications Agencies (EACA) has tapped Malene Birkebæk, CEO of KreaKom, the Danish trade association for agencies, as chair of the National Associations’ Council (NAC). In her new role, Malene also joins the EACA board of directors, further strengthening the voice of national associations at European level.

As chair of the National Associations’ Council, Malene will lead EACA’s work with national bodies from over 30 European countries, championing indusattempt standards, knowledge-sharing, and advocacy efforts that benefit more than 2500 communications agencies across the continent.

“Over the past decades, I have seen our indusattempt evolve in remarkable ways – constantly innovating, transforming, and proving its ability to create results for clients across every sector. I deeply admire this resilience and creativity, and I view forward to contributing to our shared development also at a European level through the work of the National Associations’ Council,” declared Malene Birkebæk.

Malene succeeds Caroline Fontaine, former director general of AACC France, who has recently taken up the position of director of brands, commercial communication, and brand design at Michelin. EACA extfinishs its warmest thanks to Caroline for her impactful leadership and commitment to fostering collaboration among national associations across Europe during her tenure.

“Malene has done a fantastic job leading KreaKom, which has long been an active and valued contributor to EACA’s policy work. Her election comes at a particularly timely moment, right in the middle of Denmark’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union. This provides a unique opportunity to drive forward our agfinisha at both national and European level, and I’m thrilled to welcome her to the EACA Board,” declared Christian de la Villehuchet, president of EACA.

Malene brings over two decades of experience across media, marketing, and association leadership. Prior to her role at KreaKom, she held senior positions at DR, The Danish Broadcasting Corporation, including as chief marketing officer, and previously served as managing director at Carat Denmark, a leading media agency. She holds an MSc in Economics and Business Administration from Copenhagen Business School and an Executive MBA from the Berlin School of Creative Leadership.
