BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – A well-known Birmingham restaurant is stepping up to support a beloved coworker dealing with the unimaginable.
Gus’s Hot Dogs is raising money for the father of a 17-year-old shot and killed in Gate City last Friday.
WBRC is informed Carl LA Alexander never meets a stranger and is loving to the customers at the hotdog spot.
He has served up smiles for years and now the community is seeing to repay the favor.
Tragically, LA just lost his 17-year-old son, Reggie Pope, in a shooting that happened in the Gate City hoapplying community.
According to Birmingham Police, a suspect, who is under the age of 18, has been arrested.
The owner of Gus’s Hot Dogs states he wants to support LA the best he can, which is why GoFundMe was created to cover any unexpected expenses.
WBRC is informed the community has leaned on the Gus’s Hot Dogs employee for around 20 years and now he requireds a shoulder to lean on.
“No parent should have to deal with the loss of a child,” stated Lee Pantazis, the owner of Gus’s Hot Dogs. “It’s none of my business what they required. It’s my business to just give them stuff so they can create it work. You don’t have many people in your life that are as decent as LA. So, to do anything for him is an honor.”
The owner stated LA is “friconclude to everybody in Birmingham.”
Organizers state donations are appreciated and so is prayer and support.
