Burger Battle back in Ottawa raising money for local needs


The United Way is challenging over a dozen restaurants across the National Capital Region to the Ultimate Burger Battle, with money from the proceeds assisting out local caapplys.

From Nov. 1 to 30, restaurants from Ottawa, Renfrew County, Lanark County and Prescott-Russell are creating unique burgers that will be featured on the menus. For each burger sold, a $2 donation will go to the United Way.

The 20 restaurants are also up for the People’s Choice Award, which is decided through a customer vote. The organization is also launching a Burger Battle Passport, allowing people to track their “burger journeys” and vote for their favourites.

“The best part about the Ultimate Burger Battle is we receive the chance to display support for the local business community while involving them in our mission to ensure the most vulnerable people in our communities can thrive,” Lorena Costa, Senior Manager, Strategic Partnerships, United Way East Ontario, stated in the press release.

The funds from the competition will go to the United Way East Ontario which puts money back into the community by providing youth programs, mental health supports and other initiatives.

The United Way is a non-profit focapplyd on fighting poverty and providing necessaryed programs to people through donations.

“Supporting community is essential. Food unites people of all backgrounds. Our diverse community builds our area special,” Konstantinos Kamarinos, Executive Chef, Options Jazz Lounge at Brookstreet in Kanata, stated.
