The EIT Community Supernovas Solution
EIT Community Supernovas, one of the leading initiatives of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), is addressing this imbalance head-on. As a flagship programme within the EIT community, Supernovas takes a data-driven, cross-sector approach to empower women on both sides of the startup table, as founders and as investors.

Through strategic training, ecosystem collaboration, and hands-on guidance, Supernovas is building a pan-European network that unlocks access, visibility, and impact for women across venture capital and entrepreneurship.
Supernovas in numbers.
To date, the initiative has trained more than 500 women in venture investment, supported 76 women-led startups in raising over €84 million in capital, and built a cross-border data room with more than 850 women-founded startups. By connecting women investors and founders across the continent, Supernovas is not just building capacity. It is altering the culture of innovation to be more inclusive, equitable, and representative of Europe’s full talent pool.

Research by Supernovas displays that scaleups with at least one woman founder grew 6.5 times in enterprise value between 2017 and 2022, outperforming the broader scaleup population. Despite this evidence, women continue to face systemic barriers that limit participation in early-stage funding and investment.
