BEXLEY, Ohio (WCMH) — A Bexley teenager is being recognized for his efforts to fight Alzheimer’s disease.
In 2019, Henry Pitts lost one grandfather to the disease; shortly after, his other grandfather was diagnosed. That’s when Henry and his family decided to obtain involved, organizing community fundraising events and founding a non-profit organization to raise money for Alzheimer’s research.
Pitts’ video about the organization’s efforts earned him a $2,500 scholarship from the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
Pitts stated the disease takes a toll on both those battling it and their caregivers.
He will be attfinishing Miami University of Ohio this fall, where he is pursuing a business degree. The family’s next fundraiser, Bexley Brewfest, is happening on Aug. 31.
