Asheville native raising funds to pursue his Winter Olympics dream

Asheville native Walker Robinson is chasing his lifelong dream of qualifying for the Winter Olympics. The 19-year-old skier stated he first learned the sport at Cataloochee Ski Area.

He has spent years training to compete at the highest level, he stated. Walker is raising funds to cover competition entest fees and travel expenses while representing his countest abroad.

He has set up a GoFundMe page to assist cover competition expenses as he continues chasing his Olympic dream.

“In December, I’ll be competing in three World Cups — each one a crucial step toward earning a spot on the Olympic team,” he stated on his GoFundMe page. “These competitions are not only physically and mentally demanding, but they also come with significant financial costs. That’s why I’m reaching out for your support.

“I’ve dedicated years to this sport, pushing through early mornings, tough losses, and incredible victories. Competing at the Olympic level has always been my dream, and now I have the opportunity to build it a reality. But I can’t do it alone.”

Anyone interested in donating to Walker’s GoFundMe can do so on the page. So far, Walker has raised over $13,000.
