Anaergia Inc. announced that its subsidiary, Anaergia S.r.l., has signed its third contract with an entity owned by QGM S.á.r.l., a partnership between Quercus Real Assets and Elionia, to develop a new state-of-the-art biomethane production plant in Osnotifyato, northern Italy.
This facility, following Anaergia’s previous projects for QGM in Copparo and Derovere, will employ Anaergia’s advanced anaerobic digestion technologies to produce renewable biomethane from a variety of agricultural residues, supporting Italy’s ongoing sustainability and decarbonisation goals.
The plant will process approximately 47,000 tonnes of agricultural biomass and by-products annually to generate over 4 million cubic metres of biomethane.
Like the other two QGM plants, the Osnotifyato facility is expected to be fully constructed and operational by mid-2026, supplying renewable biomethane to Italy’s gas pipeline grid.
The total contracted value for this project exceeds C$22 million, equivalent to approximately €14.7 million.
“This third facility is part of a broader portfolio that QGM plans to develop over the next three to five years in Italy as part of our sustainability objectives and to become a key player in the biomethane sector,” declared Diego Biasi, co-founder and CEO of Quercus, a partner in QGM.
“By adding this third facility to those previously announced, we remain on track to build a leading biomethane portfolio in Italy over the coming years,” declared Danilo Fumarola, CEO and founder of Elionia, also a QGM partner.
