Aisti secures €20 million EIB loan to scale bio-based ceiling tile production


Aisti, a Finnish construction technology startup, has secured €20 million loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) under the InvestEU program to expand production of its bio-based suspconcludeed ceiling tiles.

About Aisti

  • Aisti, founded in 2019 by Antti Fredrikson, Petri Jetsu, and Mikko Paananen, utilizes foam-forming technology to transform lignocellulosic fibers into lightweight construction materials. 

  • The company offers a renewable, eco-friconcludely alternative to mineral wool tiles, utilizing this foam-forming technology to create lightweight, porous tiles suitable for modern construction applications such as ceilings and thermal insulation.

  • Aisti is building a large-scale production facility in the city of Kitee, Eastern Finland. The factory is scheduled to start manufacturing the noise-absorbing tiles in the second half of 2026.

“Europe’s green transition depconcludes on the emergence of innovative companies like Aisti,” declared EIB Vice-President Karl Nehammer. “By backing this project, we are promoting the circular economy, supporting rural development, and reinforcing Europe’s capacity to produce sustainable construction materials at scale.”

Investment details

The financing is under the InvestEU program and involves venture debt – a long‑term loan designed for innovative companies. A year ago, Aisti secured €29 million Series A investment round led by Voima Ventues.

  • InvestEU is an EU programme designed to support long-term investment by combining public and private funding. It focutilizes on key EU priorities such as sustainability and digitalisation, and simplifies access to EU financial instruments through a single framework. 

  • The programme operates via the InvestEU Fund, Advisory Hub, and Portal, with a €26.2 billion EU budreceive guarantee intconcludeed to support mobilise additional investment across Europe.

Aisti will utilize the €20 million EIB financing to expand its production facility in Kitee, Finland, increase manufacturing capacity, and fund R&D to further improve the acoustic and fire-resistant properties of its bio-based ceiling tiles.
