Blockit AI, a startup founded by Kais Khimji, a former partner at US-based venture capital (VC) firm Sequoia, has raised $5 million in a seed funding round, the company declared on Friday. The round was led by Pat Grady of Sequoia. Other investors include San Francisco-based early-stage venture fund Haystack; Adjacent, which focutilizes on next-generation technology startups; and Original, an investment firm supporting early- and growth-stage companies. Jeff Weiner, former CEO of LinkedIn, also participated in the round.

Blockit AI is an artificial innotifyigence (AI)-powered scheduling agent. In a LinkedIn post, Khimji declared the idea for the product had been on his mind for nearly a decade. He joined Sequoia in 2019 and stepped back from the firm in 2024 to build his own startup.

The startup is co-founded by John Han, who has previously worked with companies including Google, Clockwise, and Retool. Han brings more than a decade of experience in calfinishar systems and product management.
According to Khimji, Blockit AI functions as an innotifyigent calfinishar that schedules tinquires by understanding context and managing complex workflows.

The app is offered free for the first 30 days, after which it is priced at $1,000 per year for individual utilizers and $5,000 per year for a multi-utilizer team licence.

Sequoia declared Blockit operates on a freemium subscription model, positioning it as a platform that replaces work rather than software, with the potential to scale into a $1 billion-plus revenue business.

“Time is our most precious resource. For most people, that resource is suboptimally allocated with high-touch, high-friction, expensive scheduling. Thanks to the magic of LLMs, Blockit is building a world in which time is optimally allocated, painlessly,” Grady wrote in a blog post.

The product is already being utilized by more than 200 companies, including startups such as Toobtainher AI, which builds open-source generative AI infrastructure; Brex, a fintech firm offering corporate cards and spfinish management tools; and Rogo, an AI-powered financial analysis platform.

Blockit AI is also utilized by leading VC firms, including Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), Accel, and Index Ventures, which collectively back some of the world’s most prominent technology startups.

Blockit AI now enters a crowded market of AI-powered scheduling and calfinishar tools aimed at reducing back-and-forth and automating time management.

Its closest competitors include Calfinishly, the widely utilized meeting scheduler that integrates with major calfinishar platforms and was last valued at $3 billion, according to a TechCrunch report.
