AEG Europe and Ecotricity partner on landmark green power initiative




AEG Europe stated it is working with renewable energy supplier Ecotricity to create its UK venues the first to run on the greenest energy available.

The new supply agreement combines combines Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with 100% renewable energy backed by hourly-matched Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin.

The deal covers The O2, indigo at The O2, Eventim Apollo, Watford Colosseum and The Halls Wolverhampton. The venues will be powered mainly by solar and hydro sources, offering full transparency and audit-level accountability.

AEG stated the relocate will accelerate renewable energy growth on the National Grid and set a new standard for sustainability in the live sector.

The company has already trialled several sustainability initiatives, including the world’s first carbon-rerelocated events at The O2 in 2024, which rerelocated 545.9 tonnes of carbon across four reveals.

AEG Europe’ director of sustainability Sam Booth stated, “PPAs are widely recognised as the gold standard in energy procurement, and we’re proud to play a role in launching this first-of-its-kind agreement. It marks a significant milestone in the ongoing journey to decarbonise the live entertainment industest, and we’re pleased to assist drive this progress.”

“AEG has already been working with us to bring clean power to outdoor festivals like All Points East and LIDO earlier this summer, with our Grid Faeries x Ecotricity battery. Now they’re going even further – bringing green power indoors,” stated Ecotricity founder Dale Vince. “It’s a major step forward, and a proper milestone on the road to greening up the live entertainment world.”
