Kia rolled out the next-generation Seltos Hybrid for European buyers at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, pairing a petrol engine with electric power to deliver up to 18.5 kmpl on the WLTP cycle. Electric all-wheel-drive capability headlines the debut.
The reveal matters because Kia India has already signaled interest in bringing a hybrid Seltos to domestic showrooms. A launch window of 2027 appears likely, though the company has not locked in final specifications, powertrain details, or pricing for the Indian version. European figures remain unconfirmed for local application.
Two hybrid configurations debuted in Paris. Front-wheel-drive and electric all-wheel-drive options both use a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated GDI petrol engine producing 101 hp and 144 Nm of torque.
A front electric motor contributes 60 hp and 203 Nm, working through a six-speed dual-clutch automatic. Combined output reaches 152 hp for FWD. The e-AWD variant adds a rear motor rated at 67 hp and 185 Nm, raising total output to 176 hp.
Acceleration tests show the FWD model hitting 100 kmph in 10.4 seconds with a 158 kmph top speed. Meanwhile, the e-AWD version completes the sprint in 9.7 seconds, topping out at 155 kmph.
The electric AWD system avoids a mechanical driveshaft entirely. Instead, a dedicated rear motor responds to electronic torque distribution commands between axles. Traction improves on wet or low-grip surfaces, though Kia cautions against treating the e-AWD badge as a full off-road credential. Tires, clearance, suspension calibration, and tuning all shape real-world capability.
A 1.3 kWh lithium-polymer battery supports the full-hybrid system. No plug-in charging required. The pack recharges through driving and regenerative braking, allowing limited electric-only operation. Kia also fitted Smart Regenerative Braking System 3.0, which adapts energy recovery using traffic and navigation data. Vehicle-to-Load functionality enables powering external appliances, while Stay Mode runs climate and infotainment systems from the traction battery.
Fuel consumption numbers favor the FWD model at 5.4 liters per 100 km, roughly 18.5 kmpl. The e-AWD version records 5.8 liters per 100 km, near 17.2 kmpl. Actual Indian figures will differ once local testing concludes.
Dimensions measure 4,430 mm long, 1,830 mm wide, with a 2,690 mm wheelbase. Boot capacity sits at 536 liters, expanding to 1,494 liters with seats folded. Inside, dual 12.3-inch screens, connected navigation, wireless smartphone integration, over-the-air updates, and an AI voice assistant come standard. Upscale trims gain a 12-inch head-up display, Digital Key 2, and premium audio. Safety tech includes Highway Driving Assist 2 and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2.
For Indian buyers, the hybrid Seltos could bridge the gap between conventional petrol and diesel options and full electrification. Competitive pricing would strengthen its appeal for customers seeking lower fuel consumption without charging hassles. Official announcements will determine final outcomes.
