European tech just recorded its strongest September in recent memory, with startups pulling in €15.8 billion, nearly five times August’s total. The surge capped a week that saw more than 70 funding deals exceeding €818 million, alongside major acquisitions and fresh investor commitments across the continent.
Quantum computing, energy infrastructure, and healthtech dominated the biggest rounds. University of Sussex spinout Universal Quantum secured a record $100 million Series A, while German energy firm Reverion raised €154 million and announced plans to add 800 workers at a new factory. Swedish healthtech Yazen closed €50 million in fresh funding.
Meanwhile, dealmaking accelerated in enterprise software and fintech. SAP purchased Belgian HR tech company TechWolf in what stands as the largest VC-backed acquisition in Belgium’s history. Personio acquired Circula, consolidating payroll, expense management, and benefits into a single platform. French fintech Flowie went to Sovos, giving the buyer autonomous financial management agents.
Investor momentum kept pace. Endeavor Catalyst launched a $320 million Fund V with Europe now its fastest-growing region. Graduate Ventures debuted a €125 million seed fund targeting Dutch startups, and Nevermind VC announced a €23.6 million first close for dual-application deeptech bets.
Strategic collaborations also made headlines. ARX Robotics and Roboneers expanded their unmanned ground vehicle partnership for Ukraine’s battlefield. The Fourth Law and Odd Systems unveiled Project Foundation, aiming to quadruple European thermal sensor production. The UK launched a Scaleup Pathway connecting London’s deeptech ecosystem with West Midlands manufacturing capacity.
Elsewhere, Delivery Hero alumni have now founded 150 startups worth a combined €7.5 billion, positioning the company as Europe’s most prolific founder factory. DIGITALEUROPE warned that regulation alone cannot deliver tech leadership, while the UK and Germany opened an industrial tech corridor to accelerate AI and deeptech growth.
Smaller rounds rounded out the week. Estonian Golbriak Space raised €4 million for satellite laser communications, German food supply chain startup Finches landed €2 million, and Danish fintech TODAY secured €2.8 million. Italian SimpL added €1.2 million for AI-powered B2B sales, while Dutch Innercrowd picked up €750,000 to convert festival fans into brand marketers.
As autumn dealmaking accelerates, Europe’s startup ecosystem appears poised to close out 2026 with considerable momentum.
