Nissan has thrown its hat into Europe’s compact EV ring with the Pixo, a city-focused electric hatchback promising 259 kilometers of range and a segment-first Google Gemini voice assistant.
The reveal comes as automakers race to capture urban buyers seeking affordable zero-emission transport. European cities continue tightening emissions rules, pushing demand for small electric cars that fit narrow streets and tight parking spots. Nissan developed the Pixo through its European design and technical centers alongside alliance partner Renault.
The Pixo measures just 3,796mm long and 1,790mm wide. A 9.9-meter turning circle targets cramped urban environments. Designers gave it a boxy silhouette with short overhangs, pixel-style lighting, and what Nissan calls a “robot face” up front. Buyers can pick Wonder Purple or Gear Blue paint, both paired with black exterior trim and 18-inch pixel-inspired alloys. The rear tailgate spells out NISSAN in full lettering.
Inside sits a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and 10-inch touchscreen. Nissan kept physical climate controls, resisting the all-touchscreen trend. Orange accents surround the air vents. Four adults fit comfortably, according to Nissan, with individually sliding rear seats balancing passenger room against cargo space. The boot holds 356 liters, though 50 liters go to charging cable storage.
Google Gemini handles voice commands across 16 languages and dialects. Face ID driver recognition loads personalized settings automatically. The MyNissan app enables remote vehicle functions. Safety kit includes adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and hands-free parking assistance.
Power comes from a 27.5kWh LFP battery paired with an 82hp electric motor. Nissan hasn’t published torque figures or acceleration times. DC fast charging at 50kW takes the battery from 15 to 80 percent in roughly 28 minutes. Bidirectional 11kW AC charging lets owners feed power back to devices or the grid.
Production begins at Renault’s Novo Mesto factory in Slovenia. European deliveries start in early 2027. Pricing remains unannounced.
