AI receptionist now answers 75,000 European salons’ calls while stylists work

Treatwell launches AI receptionist for salons across Europe

Treatwell has rolled out an artificial intelligence phone service for beauty businesses, promising to reclaim up to four hours daily that salons lose to administrative busywork. The new AI Receptionist debuts across the company’s European partner network with monthly pricing starting at £69.

Salon owners routinely miss calls while tending to clients, a recurring headache that turns potential bookings into lost revenue. This platform tackles that gap directly, answering phones around the clock, managing appointment changes, and logging searchable transcripts of every conversation.

The system pulls from a salon’s treatment menu, staff rosters, opening hours, and internal knowledge base to field customer questions. When human intervention becomes necessary, it transfers the caller or records a message, with notifications pushed through WhatsApp and Treatwell Connect.

Massimo Chieruzzi has joined the company as Chief AI Officer, a newly created position overseeing automation strategy. Treatwell, which counts more than 75,000 partner salons and processes over 2.5 million bookings monthly, frames the launch as part of a wider push to modernize day-to-day operations for independent beauty providers.

Chieruzzi stressed that digital tools must complement rather than replace the personal craft central to the industry. The goal, he said, involves equipping partners with practical, intuitive technology that supports their independent businesses without diluting human care and connection.

The platform also handles profile administration tasks, including staff biographies and treatment listings. Analytics track call volumes, bookings created, conversion rates, and hours saved on front-desk work.

Meanwhile, junior staff members often shoulder routine reception duties. Reducing that load could shift their time toward hands-on training and skill development, a potential secondary benefit for salon productivity.

One early adopter reported that the service eased pressure during client appointments, capturing enquiries that would otherwise slip through. Direct responses to clients via WhatsApp represent the next planned phase for the receptionist tool.
