Marsh has created a new European insurance leadership post and tapped Jens Florian-Jansen to fill it, signaling a strategic push to unify its insurance and reinsurance capabilities across the continent.
The appointment comes as insurers and reinsurers contend with mounting pressures from interconnected risks, technological shifts, and evolving business models. Marsh sees integrated service delivery as central to helping clients adapt.
Florian-Jansen steps into the role effective immediately, based in Düsseldorf, and reports to Julian Enoizi, CEO of Marsh Re Europe. His remit spans insurance, investments, capital markets, advisory, talent, and digital capabilities for insurance and reinsurance clients.
Meanwhile, Matthias Grass takes over Florian-Jansen’s former position as President of Marsh Risk Germany. Grass, previously CFO of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, will operate from Munich and report to Achim Lüder, CEO of Marsh Germany, Northern, Central and Eastern Europe.
Florian-Jansen joined Marsh in 2009 and has held senior roles in client advisory, placement, strategy, and digital transformation. Before leading Marsh Risk Germany beginning in 2022, he directed Marsh’s digital agenda across Continental Europe.
Grass brings two decades of insurance and leadership experience, including senior positions at Swiss Re and McKinsey. As CFO and Executive Committee member at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, he oversaw the global finance function and helped steer business strategy.
Lüder noted that Florian-Jansen built deep client and market relationships in Germany, and that this new role extends that foundation across Europe. He added that Grass will focus on client delivery and strengthening Marsh’s advisory capabilities.
The restructuring aims to connect Marsh’s expertise more effectively around client needs. Both leaders emphasized the importance of combining German market knowledge with global perspective to help businesses anticipate emerging risks and pursue growth with greater confidence.
