€2.8B floods European tech as 70 deals reshape funding landscape

European tech weekly recap: More than 70 tech funding deals worth over €2.8B

Europe’s tech sector just closed out a blockbuster week, racking up more than 70 funding deals worth over €2.8 billion alongside a flurry of acquisitions and strategic moves.

Cloud infrastructure topped the funding charts at €790.8 million, with fintech close behind at €660 million and energy pulling in €471.4 million. The United Kingdom dominated the geographical breakdown, capturing €1.7 billion of total investment. Germany followed with €511.9 million, while France secured €258.4 million.

The standout transaction came from London hyperscaler Nscale, which locked down a £670 million credit facility. Lendable, also UK-based, raised $670 million to fuel global expansion. Meanwhile, German fusion startup Proxima Fusion landed €411 million in what now stands as Europe’s largest ever fusion investment.

Several companies hit major milestones. Kraken Technology, a maritime defence startup, reached unicorn status after a $175 million raise. Lithuanian data firm Oxylabs ended its long bootstrapped run by securing €113.6 million at a €3.1 billion valuation. Thought Machine pulled in $40 million from a banking partner while surpassing $100 million in annual recurring revenue.

France’s Skello collected €200 million to advance its AI workforce management tools. Nvidia threw its weight behind voice AI startup Gradium, pushing that seed round beyond $100 million. Portugal’s BIZAY raised $55 million targeting US growth.

The AI theme permeated nearly every sector. Freelance platforms, industrial robotics, chip testing, renewable energy aggregation, and personalised medicine all attracted fresh capital. Hive secured £11.2 million to develop what it calls a “silicon brain” for industrial machines. Sherpa.ai raised $18 million for data-sovereign AI development.

M&A activity remained brisk. Portuguese drone maker Tekever acquired Cloudsweep to strengthen its AI capabilities. Tourlane, the Berlin package holiday platform, moved to acquire travel startup Lambus. Irish e-commerce financing firm Wayflyer bought data analytics company Conjura. Banyan Software took a majority stake in Geneva fintech WIZE.

The week’s momentum suggests European tech keeps accelerating despite global economic uncertainty, with AI infrastructure and energy technology leading the charge.
