Speaking at VivaTech 2026 in Paris on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted India’s large-scale deployment of technology across financial inclusion, education, telemedicine, and agriculture. He noted that India’s UPI payment system now processes half of the world’s real-time digital transactions and is accepted at Paris landmarks including the Eiffel Tower. Modi also celebrated the historic India-EU free trade agreement concluded earlier this year and the launch of the India-France Year of Innovation, calling France a vital bridge connecting India’s and Europe’s tech ecosystems.
