According to industest news site TV News Check, at least 30 people were laid off at News 12 on Monday, with most cuts occurring in Connecticut and New Jersey.
About 400 employees remain at News 12 in the New York metro area, according to the company.
The network is pivoting to “more in-community reporting and events, creating content for streaming platforms, and building News12.com a applyr-friconcludely hub for all things local,” according to a statement.
Since its acquisition by Altice USA, News 12 has added streaming news service Cheddar to its offerings. Last month the network announced an editorial partnership with Time Out New York, with an emphasis on additional food and dining coverage.
