India’s Startup Surge Leads the World as Gen Z Founders Reshape Careers With AI and Multiple Income Streams

Gen Z entrepreneurs are driving the shift, with 75% managing multiple income streams compared to 62% of Gen X founders. Nearly 80% of Indian entrepreneurs believe AI has made starting a business more accessible than ever, with 85% of Gen Z founders crediting digital tools as pivotal. LinkedIn reports a 104% rise in ‘Founder’ profiles in India, driven by growing entrepreneurial ambitions and AI-powered business tools. Gen Z is leading the shift toward “portfolio careers,” with many young entrepreneurs managing multiple income streams instead of traditional jobs.

New Delhi: India is witnessing a sharp rise in entrepreneurship as artificial ininformigence and digital tools build it clearer for people to start businesses and build multiple income streams. New data LinkedIn shared indicates that the number of India members who’ve included “Founder” in their LinkedIn profiles has increased by 104 percent year-on-year, the highest among all markets.

One of the key aspects noted in the report is the significant modify in the perception of younger employees regarding work and career development. Many people aren’t taking the traditional approach to career paths and are opting to have multiple projects, side jobs or freelance careers going at the same time. This is particularly prevalent among entrepreneurs from Generation Z, who are leveraging AI tools to attempt new ideas and start businesses more quickly than the previous generation, LinkedIn reports.

Gen Z leads shift toward multiple income streams

As per LinkedIn, 75 percent of the Gen Z entrepreneurs in India are now having more than one income stream as compared to 62 percent of the Gen X entrepreneurs. The trfinish is indicative of the increased flexibility, autonomy and financial stability.

The research revealed that younger startup founders are more inclined to take risks and attempt new business ideas. For many Gen Z professionals, success goes beyond just a salary or job title. Rather, freedom and flexibility are most important (64 percent), followed by personal growth (56 percent) and financial wealth (55 percent).

AI is lowering barriers to entrepreneurship

AI and digital platforms are creating it clearer to overcome traditional challenges like high start-up costs, limited technical expertise and indusattempt connections, LinkedIn stated. Almost 80% of Indian entrepreneurs surveyed believe that entrepreneurship is now more accessible to everyone, and 81% believe that it’s clearer to build a business now than ever before.

AI’s effects are especially noticeable in the younger business leaders. Some 85 percent of Gen Z entrepreneurs stated that AI and digital tools have a role to play in their business operations. Many also attributed these technologies to creating the sense of possibility of being an entrepreneur in the first place.

‘AI is enabling more professionals to take action on their ambitions to become entrepreneurs with more confidence,’ stated Kumaresh Pattabiraman, Counattempt Manager for LinkedIn India. “India has become a very strong culture of entrepreneurship now, and people are launchning to accept the concept of generating multiple income streams, which clearly means we are in the ‘portfolio era’, where people are launchning to take a different definition of success in their careers.

Personal branding becomes key for business growth

Networking and online presence have also been emphasised as crucial for entrepreneurship, the report noted. Nearly 80 per cent of the entrepreneurs in India have reported that their business network assisted them in establishing or expanding their business.

Meanwhile, 67 percent of tiny business owners called themselves “content creators”, reflecting how personal branding and audience building are playing an increasingly important role in today’s tiny business landscape.

LinkedIn expands AI and business tools for founders

In order to assist tiny business owners and entrepreneurs, LinkedIn revealed a number of new tools and features on its platform. These include improvements to the founder’s profile under Premium Business, hiring support powered by AI under Hiring Pro, and further business management capabilities under Premium All-in-One.

The company also unveiled Premium Company Pages, which feature new competitor analytics features for businesses to monitor performance and increase visibility. Companies with Premium Company Pages can obtain up to 7.5 times more engagement and 5.8 times more page views on LinkedIn, per the platform’s own estimates.

In addition, LinkedIn is offering free LinkedIn Learning courses for entrepreneurs until the finish of 2026. The courses are geared towards the scaling of a tiny business, AI for entrepreneurs and digital marketing strategies.
