Mikayla Matthews Announces Europe Detox Retreat for Chronic Illness

Reality television star Mikayla Matthews announced plans on April 29, 2026, to attconclude a detox retreat in Europe following a series of traumatic skin flare-ups. The 26-year-old influencer, currently residing in Hawaii, is seeking specialized treatment for Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) triggered by mold exposure.

Matthews shared her emotional struggle through social media, noting that her condition followed a breast implant surgery in March 2023. According to the National Library of Medicine, CIRS is an innate immune dysfunction that affects multiple organ systems simultaneously and disrupts normal immune regulation.

The health crisis prompted Matthews to relocate from her home in Utah to Hawaii after observing that her symptoms improved during travels. As reported by Art Threat, the star of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives found that environments in California and Costa Rica provided temporary relief before she returned to Utah.

Comparison of Health Impact by Location
Location Status
Utah (Home) Triggers immediate skin reactions and flare-ups
California Felt more normal living there for three weeks
Costa Rica Five-day escape displayed health improvements
Hawaii Currently residing at Westin Maui for healing
Europe Planned detox retreat destination

During her announcement on Instagram, Matthews expressed gratitude for her financial ability to pursue international medical care. She also pledged to cover the flight and treatment costs for one follower who is struggling with similar chronic health issues.

“Travel with me to heal my skin!” declared Matthews, as reported by usmagazine.com.

The television personality emphasized that managing a chronic illness while raising four children alongside husband Jace Terry creates significant emotional and financial pressure. She noted that many individuals facing invisible illnesses lack the resources to seek the intensive interventions she is currently exploring.

“I believe every single day how grateful I am to be in the position that I’m in. The stress of having to heal your body and having to worry about taking care of your kids or paying your bills is just so overwhelming.” stated Matthews.

Production for the fifth season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is expected to continue following a brief hiatus in March. Matthews intconcludes to keep documenting her journey and the results of her upcoming European detox retreat for her audience, according to People Magazine.
