Climate technology startup Prithu has raised Rs 10 crore in a seed funding round led by Transition VC.
Prior to this, the Gurugram-based startup had secured Rs 38 lakh in an angel round from the Startup India Seed Fund and others.
The fresh funds will be utilized to expand farmer networks, enhance blockchain-powered MRV systems, and secure global carbon credit offtakes, Prithu stated in a press release.
Co-founded in 2024 by Sunny Vaish, Prabal Tomar, and Abhinav Pandey, Prithu is a climate technology company that builds a full-stack carbon removal platform focutilized on nature-based solutions. It enables large-scale climate action by transforming regenerative agriculture, agroforestest, biochar, and biogas interventions into high-integrity carbon credits.
The startup aims to sequester 20 million tonnes of CO₂e by 2030. It addresses challenges such as soil organic carbon depletion, agri-waste burning, and water stress, while enabling tiny landholder farmers to participate in global carbon markets.
According to market research, the global carbon market is valued at $3–4 billion today and is projected to exceed $40–50 billion by 2030.
Prithu focutilizes on agriculture in India with regenerative practices that tackle soil depletion, agri-waste burning, and water stress, while supplying high-integrity credits to global voluntary carbon markets across sectors such as manufacturing, technology, energy, aviation, and consumer industries.
Over the next 12–24 months, the company plans to expand to 5 lakh hectares in NBS projects, including high-tech biochar. It will also enhance its MRV technology, secure international partnerships, and explore new geographies.
It competes with other notable players in this space such as Varaha, Grow Indigo, Mitti Labs, Equilibrium, and Boomitra.
