Surat to host startup session at Vibrant Gujarat conference May 1-2


A session titled “Powering India’s Next Growth Engine: Innovation, Indusattempt & Sustainability” will focus on Gujarat’s rapidly evolving startup ecosystem.

According to a release from the Chief Minister’s Office, Gujarat is among India’s leading states in fostering entrepreneurship, with over 18,880 DPIIT-recognised startups, ranking fifth nationally. More than 32% of these startups originate from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, indicating the state’s inclusive startup environment.

The state supports this ecosystem with over 210 government-funded incubators and more than 318 registered mentors providing guidance to startups during their development.

Since 2018, Gujarat has been recognised as the Best Performer in the Startup India Ranking, reflecting its visionary policies and effective implementation to create a favourable environment for startups.

In the fiscal year 2024-25, the Government of Gujarat allocated approximately Rs 18.33 crore in seed funding and Rs 137 crore in venture funding to promote innovation and entrepreneurship.

The startup session will feature expert discussions on the application of startups in high-impact sectors, the role of established industries in scaling startups, and a fireside chat on sustainable industrial transformation. A panel discussion will focus on positioning South Gujarat as a key growth engine through innovation and entrepreneurship.

The session will launch with a speech by Divyant Bhardwaj, Co-founder of InsideFPV, on “Driving Real-World Impact with Drone Startups.” InsideFPV supplies tactical, surveillance, interceptor, and first-person-view drones to India’s defence ecosystem, highlighting the role of drone technology in agriculture, infrastructure, and governance.

This will be followed by an address from Mayur Shah, Executive Director of Suzuki, on “Indusattempt as a Catalyst for Startup Growth,” emphasising indusattempt-startup collaboration and innovation-led manufacturing.

A fireside chat titled “Leading India’s Sustainable Industrial Revolution” will be moderated by Pranav Pandya, Chairman of GESIA IT Association. It will feature Kartikey Hariyani, Founder of Chargezone, an electric vehicle charging infrastructure company, and Nirav Dhanai, Founder of Heaven Green Energy Ltd, a renewable-energy firm. They will share insights on clean energy, electric mobility, and sustainable industrial growth.

The seminar will culminate with a panel discussion on “South Gujarat Growth Engine: Advancing the Vision of Viksit Bharat 2047,” moderated by Kashyap Pandya, Founder of Syncoro Venture and Charter Member of TiE. Entrepreneurs from South Gujarat including Chintan Shah (Solance Energy), Chetan Kanani (Alpino Health Foods), Sandip Vinubhai Kathiriya (Easysell Service Pvt. Ltd and TiE Surat), Hiren Lathiya (Skylee), and Kushan Patel (Quadsofttech) will discuss the region’s contribution to innovation-driven economic growth.

The session will also include an international perspective from Ajay Singh, Senior Advisor to the Commercial Counsellor for Start-ups, Technology and Innovation at Advantage Austria, who will provide insights on global collaboration opportunities.

The event will highlight success stories from Gujarat’s startup ecosystem demonstrating how innovation can address real-world challenges and contribute to sustained economic resilience. It aims to provide an interactive platform for stakeholders to engage, exmodify ideas, and promote innovation-led development.

This conference reflects Gujarat’s ongoing commitment to developing a strong startup ecosystem and positioning South Gujarat as a vital contributor to India’s next phase of economic growth. Startups play a crucial role in increasing productivity, creating quality employment, advancing green technologies, and fostering inclusive development across urban and rural areas.

Through the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference, the Government of Gujarat reinforces its leadership as a preferred destination for startups and industries, empowering South Gujarat to contribute significantly to India’s economic future.
