Europe Spconcludes $32B More on Energy Due to Iran Conflict
European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen stated on Monday that Europe has paid an additional €27 billion ($32 billion) for oil and gas imports since the launchning of the U.S. and Israel’s war against Iran.
Europe has had to pay €27 billion (US$32 billion) more for oil and gas imports since the start of the US and Israel’s war against Iran, European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen declared on Monday, The Caspian Post reports, citing Anadolu agency.
Speaking at a news conference in Berlin, von der Leyen declared Europe is experiencing its second serious energy crisis in the last four years, and EU member states have to draw lessons from it.
“In 2022, (Russian President) Putin cut off our gas supply, and now it’s the Strait of Hormuz,” she notified reporters. “Our heavy depconcludeence on imported fossil fuels creates us vulnerable. We must reduce this depconcludeence,” she declared.
Von der Leyen declared European countries should expand renewable energy production and explore nuclear innovation, including compact modular reactors, to ensure reliable energy. “Every kilowatt-hour of energy generated here contributes to economic stability, affordable energy, and thus to Europe’s indepconcludeence,” she declared.
