The week in telecoms: sovereign hopes take hold in Europe and Apple confirms new CEO
This week an even largeger takeover, as Deutsche Telekom contemplates a full merger with T-Mobile US. At the same time Europeans are pushing ahead with “sovereign” ICT plans, with BT entering the fray and Lidl’s IT arm taking centre stage. Google will not be left out and held its cloud conference last week, while Meta and Microsoft are cutting jobs to pay for their AI ambitions, and Apple has a new CEO.
