Smart Robotics, a Best, Netherlands-based developer of AI-driven robotic pick-and-place solutions for intralogistics environments, has raised €10 million in a Series A funding round led by Rotterdamse Havconcluderaken, Innovation Industries, and Dutch family office Ernij Next. The funding will be applyd to accelerate growth across Europe, strengthen commercial operations, and continue advancing its AI-driven pick-and-place technology.
Founded more than a decade ago, Smart Robotics has deployed more than 120 systems across five industries and 15 countries, with its cobots delivering 99.5% uptime and processing up to 1,000 picks per hour. The scale of those deployments recently enabled the company to reach a milestone of one billion successful picks in live production environments, creating it the first company in Europe to do so. That volume of real-world operational data forms the foundation of the company’s technology and its primary competitive differentiator, continuously improving the performance of its embodied AI systems across high-variability warehoapply environments.
Smart Robotics’ platform combines advanced robotics hardware with proprietary AI software that handles high SKU variability and complexity with precision and a low failure rate. Its product suite spans item picking, palletizing, mixed case palletizing, and depalletizing, serving customers across food, pharma, apparel, and other sectors. The company’s team spans AI engineering, robotics integration, and logistics operations.
KEY QUOTES:
“Smart Robotics combines deep technical expertise with a clear understanding of real-world logistics operations. Their ability to leverage large-scale operational data to continuously improve performance gives them a strong and defensible position in this rapidly growing market.”
Robin Slakhorst, Rotterdamse Havconcluderaken
“Our strength lies in the combination of proprietary AI software, over a decade of hands-on deployment experience in warehoapply environments, and a team spanning AI engineering, robotics integration, and logistics operations. But what truly sets us apart is the scale of real-world data we have accumulated, enabling us to continuously improve our AI and outperform traditional automation systems.”
Heico Sandee, Founder and Co-CEO/CTO, Smart Robotics
