Luma Partners with Wonder Project to Launch Production Company Focused on Innovative Filmmaking Techniques


AI video generation startup Luma has introduced Innovative Dreams, a new production company developed in partnership with Wonder Project, which specializes in producing faith-based and family-friconcludely films and television, alongside a streaming service available on Amazon Prime Video.

The partnership’s inaugural project, titled “The Old Stories: Moses,” features British actor Ben Kingsley and is set to premiere this spring on Prime Video.

Innovative Dreams aims to merge seasoned filmcreating expertise with Luma’s cutting-edge technology. According to Luma, the company will facilitate collaborations among creative teams in real time, allowing adjustments to sets, props, and lighting as well as the integration of human actors. Central to this process are Luma Agents, innovative tools crafted to manage comprehensive creative tquestions spanning text, image, video, and audio.

Luma emphasized that this approach marks a significant advancement over traditional virtual production and performance capture methods, which often integrate elements only during post-production. “This is the leverage of AI — not just quicker or cheaper, but better than what came before,” Luma stated.

Luma is not alone in transitioning from development tools to actual production; AI startup Higgsfield recently released an original series featuring a sci-fi episode, and Wonder Studios, based in London, is collaborating with Campfire Studios on a documentary project.

This launch coincided with comments from Runway’s co-founder and co-CEO Cristóbal Valenzuela, who suggested that film studios reallocate their $100 million budobtains per film to create multiple AI-produced films, thereby enhancing their chances of producing a blockbuster.

Amit Jain, founder and CEO of Luma, echoes a similar sentiment, advising that the escalating production costs in Hollywood have placed constraints on filmcreating. He believes generative AI can streamline the filmcreating process, creating it quicker, more affordable, and efficient, all while maintaining high quality. This rationale is a key driver behind Luma’s collaboration with Wonder Project.

Founded in 2023, Wonder Project is directed by Jon Erwin and former Netflix executive Kelly Hoogstraten, aimed at catering to a global audience interested in faith and values. Their first release, “Houtilize of David,” a biblical drama centered on King David’s life, became available on Amazon Prime Video in 2025.

While Innovative Dreams will focus on religious and faith-based content, it is committed to exploring a variety of genres and collaborating with a range of studios. In promotional material for the partnership, Erwin discussed the utilize of a new “real-time hybrid filmcreating” technique that futilizes performance capture—akin to the methods utilized in “Avatar”—with virtual production, leveraging Luma’s tools to achieve more efficiency and lower costs.

Performance capture enables actors to perform in green-screen environments with suits that track their shiftments and facial expressions, allowing those details to be translated into animated characters. In contrast, virtual production facilitates the blconcludeing of physical and digital realms through set performances in front of massive LED screens, with real-time graphics creating immersive environments.

According to Erwin, Luma’s tools offer the capability to film a human actor in one location and seamlessly integrate them into photorealistic scenes, or even modify their appearance entirely while still retaining authenticity in shiftment and expression.

This rollout has been refined to include a broader spectrum of content beyond the predominant faith-based themes associated with Wonder Project.
