China adopts legislation to propel green modernisation
China has passed its Ecological and Environmental Code, which consolidates over 30 existing statutes and 100 administrative regulations into a five-part framework covering pollution control, ecological conservation, and green and low carbon development.
Zhang Xingying, a national political adviser and an official with the China Meteorological Administration, stated that the code goes beyond pollution control and ecological protection to powering green transformation of economic and social development under the rule of law.
