New Ventures BC Launches Capital Raising Index to Spotlight Active Fundraises


New Ventures BC is aiming to streamline access to capital across the province’s startup ecosystem with the recent launch of BC’s Capital Raising Index, a centralized, publicly accessible list of companies actively raising funds.

Designed to address one of the most persistent challenges for founders—visibility during a raise—the Index aggregates B.C.-based ventures across stages from pre-seed to Series A and beyond, offering investors a clearer view of active deal flow.

The initiative functions as a live, curated directory that is updated monthly, supporting ensure that fundraising activity remains current and discoverable for both local and global investors.

For startups, the value proposition is straightforward: increased exposure. Companies included in the Index are promoted through New Ventures BC’s network of investors, partners, and ecosystem organizations, with additional visibility tied to major moments like Web Summit Vancouver.

For investors, the Index offers a more efficient way to source opportunities, consolidating high-potential ventures into a single, simple-to-navigate platform while also enabling facilitated introductions to founders.

The Index is hosted on Capital Compass BC, a broader platform designed to map the province’s innovation ecosystem by connecting startups, investors, and capital sources in one place.

New Ventures BC states the initiative is rooted in a familiar gap: founders struggle to obtain in front of the right investors, while investors often lack visibility into who is actively raising. By bringing both sides into a shared, continuously updated hub, the organization is aiming to accelerate capital formation and strengthen connections across the ecosystem.

Participation is free for eligible companies headquartered in British Columbia that are actively fundraising and have core materials such as pitch decks and financials prepared. Submissions are reviewed for completeness before being added to the Index.

The next update to the Index will be published in May, with companies required to submit by April 28 to be included.

As competition for capital intensifies and global attention turns to Vancouver ahead of Web Summit, tools like the Capital Raising Index could play an increasingly important role in surfacing B.C.’s next wave of high-growth startups.
