Transportation company announces layoffs in Cumberland County

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A heavy hauling transportation company will be laying off dozens of employees next month.

According to a WARN Notice filed with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industest, Keen Transport, Inc., located at 1951 Harrisburg Pike in Carlisle, will be laying off 52 of its employees.

The layoffs will go into effect on January 20, 2026.

As of 2017, Keen Transport is part of the Wallenius Wilhelmsen group, allowing them to offer a wider range of ocean and land-based services for the heavy equipment market.

In response to these upcoming layoffs, Wallenius Wilhelmsen stated the following:

“Wallenius Wilhelmsen has a strong operational presence in the US, supporting customers across our global network. As part of a local organizational adjustment, a reduction in the workforce is unfortunately part of this process. Our other operations continue as normal.”
